40th Birthday Card

Today’s challenge card is for the Time Out Challenge 55.

The theme of this challenge is any celebrations with optional twist of die cutting/fussy cutting.  Of course, I went with a birthday celebration card especially since I need one for a friend who is celebrating her 40th birthday this Saturday.  There is going to be a DJ, lots of dancing and a Vegas theme.

I first stamped the Time Warp on white cardstock with VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  This stamp image just has an “outer space” feel to it, so I had to do a space background. To do this I used distress inks and a blending tool.  After the colors were applied and blended, I took a tissue to wipe away excess ink from the embossed image. White shimmer paint splatter was done to create the stars.

The sentiment from  Fireworks was embossed on vellum with white embossing powder.  I die cut the 40 three times from white cardstock to give it dimension.  Black sequins were added to finish the card.
