CAS Mix Up August 2017 Reminder

Hi there.  This is the mid-month reminder post for CAS Mix Up August challenge – Alcohol Inks (AI).

And here’s my card.

I still don’t own any of the traditional AIs, so my AI comes from my Copic markers.  The background was created using the acrylic block stamping technique.  Copic markers in gradient colours were scribbled across an acrylic stamping block, then spritz with alcohol, and stamped onto a Wonky Stitched Rectangle die cut from Neenah solar white cardstock.

The flowers and sentiment were stamped with the MISTI using Memento black ink.  A Copic Colorless Blender was then used to “remove” colour from parts of the flower that overlapped the background.  Technically, the Colorless Blender pushes away colour and desaturates the area, making it appear like it’s removing colour.  The flowers were then coloured with Copics.

A white gel pen was used to outline the sentiment to make it stand out more.  With the stamps still in place in the MISTI, the flowers and sentiment were re-stamped with VersaMark and clear heat embossed.  Clear shimmer on the flowers and a few clear sequins finished off the card.  It was an easy make, so I made another colour version of it.

There is still time to get out those AIs and join the fun.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day.

  4. Trina your cards are FABULOUS and spectacular every time. So much attention to detail yet completely CAS-perfect too. The shimmer and gorgeous colours used on both of these are truly inspiring. Thanks for joining us at Uniko this month.

  5. What a wonderful idea to use Copics to color on an acrylic block to stamp! I’ll be trying that! I love your sweet flowers, Trina, and how they overlap the background! Thanks so much for joining our team at CAS Mix Up this month!

  6. Clever thinking outside the box with your markers & great idea to use a blender pen to remove the ink in places! Loved the blues (v different for a flower card) and then at the end just seen your pink card which is just as lovely! X

  9. Two beautiful cards Trina! So pretty in both colors – your backgrounds are lovely using the Copics on an acrylic block with alcohol – and the glittery sparkle on your blooms is wonderful! Thank you so much for being the Guest Designer this month at the CAS Mix Up! Julia xx

  10. So pretty!! I love the idea of using alcohol inks for the acrylic block technique. Had never thought of that!! So creative and clever, Trina! Gorgeous flowers in both colours. Thanks again for being our Guest Designer this month at CAS Mix Up! xx

  11. clever way to use your copics, I wouldn’t have thought of using them on an acrylic block. your image and block stamping look amazing and as always CAS perfection 🙂

  12. Both your color combos for your cards are gorgeous, Trina. Thank you for sharing your lifting of color from your flowers technique. I am so glad you used your Copics as another Alcohol Ink choice. Your acrylic block swiping with your Copics and coloring or your heat embossed flowers are wonderfully creative techniques my friend. It has been just great having you as our Guest Designer at CAS Mix Up this month. Hope to see you again next Spring for our Retreat:-) Hugs

  13. Trina, what a great card for demonstrating two techniques with Copic markers! Love the way you did the background with them, but even more, I love the way you lifted the background colour from the flowers and then went in and coloured them. I’m always happy to learn new ways to use my Copics. It’s been great having you as our Guest Designer at CAS Mix Up this month – thank you so much!
