Window Spinner Card

Hello everyone.  I have a fun card to share today. Plus, I have my first attempt at a short video. So MFT ran the series of Camp Create challenges this past summer and now they are hosting a Card Design Superstar contest.  Of course I am joining in the fun.  For my first entry, I wanted to do a window spinner card.  I’m not even sure if that’s what this type of card is called. I combined a tic tac toe, rainbow and frames challenges to create my card. All stamps and dies are from MFT.

One of the reasons I liked the Hog Heaven stamp set is the image of the piggy’s backside.  I just gave mine a heart tattoo on his left butt cheek that I drew in with a Copic multiliner and colored with Copics.  The balloons are from Blueprints 26.  I die cut two balloons from white cardstock and heat embossed the sentiments from Adorable Elephants with white embossing powder.  I then Ombre ink blended Ripe Raspberry Premium dye ink for a little emboss resist.

The card front window opening was die cut with Cross-stitch Rectangle STAX.  For reinforcement and stability, I cut two 5-1/4″x4″ white pieces of cardstock and die cut an opening in the middle with the same cross-stitch die to create a frame. For more stability and some detail, I die cut two frames from white cardstock with the Pierced Rectangle Frames.  I adhered baker’s twine down the middle of the opening and then attached the frames.  For some reason, I just love the idea of critters flying away on balloons, so I attached the balloons and piggy images back to back along the twine. I added some pink sequins for texture.

To create the sky background that appears through the window opening, I blended some Tumbled Glass distress inks and then die cut the stitched rainbow and clouds from white cardstock using End of the Rainbow.  I colored the rainbow with Copics then adhered my pieces to complete my background.  Really simple.

And here’s a short video showing how this card spins.  Click HERE to watch in HD.

Buddy & Ducky Returns

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!  So one of the challenges from my last Buddy & Ducky post was Tic Tac Toe Challenge 17.  I thought I had completed the challenge, but realized this was not the case.  I had chosen the top row across: window card, critters and sequins.  So where was the window?  Exactly.  *lol*  I had missed the window!   So I made a new card and am entering again. I used the same color combo as last time from Color Throwdown and combined them with CAS and birthday challenges for today’s card.

Window birthday card created for challenges Sending Smiles Designs Tic Tac Toe challenge 17, Color Throwdown #408, City Crafter Week 327 Birthday Wishes, Addicted to Stamps and More CAS and Tuesday Throwdown CAS.

Just like before, I stamped Buddy & Duck with black Memento ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut them out.  This time, I colored Buddy in grays.   I added glossy accents to the balloons again for dimension.

To create my window, I adhered an A2 white stitched rectangle to a top folding white card base, then die cut the window through the card front.  For a finished look I die cut two window frames from white cardstock and attached one to the front and the other to the inside front.  I stamped the presents and sentiment directly onto the card front and colored the gifts with blue Copics.

Before adding Buddy on the inside of the card, I randomly blended some Broken China distress ink to create the sky background.

To finish and this time, truly complete the tic tac toe challenge, I added sparkling clear sequins.

Buddy & Ducky

Happy Friday everyone!  Today I am sharing another NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) card combined with tic tac toe, balloons, color and stitch challenges.

image

On a piece of white cardstock slightly larger than A2 size, I randomly sponged on some Broken China distress inks for the sky.  I cut a couple of NBUS stitched clouds from white cardstock, cut one in half, and adhered them to the sponged background.  Then I die cut that background piece with an A2 size stitched rectangle die.  To create the window, I die cut with the largest size Inside & Out Stitch Rounded Rectangle.

My other NBUS item is the Buddy and Duck stamp set from Penny Black.  I wanted to have these two critters chatting away as they float off to the upper right corner. I stamped Buddy and Duck with black Memento ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut them out.  For some dimension, I added glossy accents to the balloons.

Now to put my card together, I added foam adhesive to the frame and the critters. I adhered the frame to a top folding white card base, inlaid the rounded rectangle piece, and then added Buddy and Duck. I stamped the sentiment in blue on a white stitched curve banner and mounted it with foam adhesive as well.  To finish and complete the top row across of the tic tac toe challenge, I added a few sequins.

I am playing in the following challenges:

Hogs, I Mean Hugs

Happy Sunday, everyone.  I am finally participating in the Mojo Monday Contest.  I’ve been meaning to play along for quite a while.  I flipped the Mojo Sketch 459 sideways to create today’s card.

image

I decided to do a black and white monochromatic card with color blocking for my background.  To do this, I first cut a piece of regular copy paper to A2 size.  I then cut scraps of Basic Black, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate cardstock into strips and adhered them to the copy paper.  I took that piece and die cut it with a Stitched Rectangle die.  Color blocking is a great way to use up those scraps of cardstock

image

I used a smaller stitched rectangle die to die cut an opening for the sentiment.  I was going to just die cut a black sentiment and adhere it to the white openung, but it looked too plain.  So I did color blocking for the opening as well and inlaid it.  To make it stand out, I added a white stitched rectangle frame.  I die cut the hugs sentiment from a scrap piece of Dazzling Diamond glitter paper.

image

I stamped the hog with black Memento ink onto white cardstock.  In keeping with the black and white monochromatic color theme, I colored the hog with light gray Copic markers.  For a little bit of interest, I colored the heart red.  The hog was die cut out with the matching die and popped up with foam adhesive.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the heart to finish.

I am playing in the following challenges:
Stamping Smiles Designs – Tic Tac Toe Challenge 15 (middle row across: word dies, sparkle, color blocking)

Magical Dragons

Hello everyone.  It’s been a while because I’ve been away.  It’s so nice to be back in My Crafting Closet.  My first project back is a fun little card with the new Magical Dragons stamp set from MFT and I knew I wanted to use it for The Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge #306.

image

I ended up completing the bottom row across and the right column down. I created a scene inside a castle with one of the dragons peering in through a window.  I stamped and colored the dragons with Copics and then die cut them out with the matching dies.  The wall was created with a wall stencil and texture paste colored with gray reinker. This was my first time using texture paste and I love the texture and dimension it gives. That completed the bottom row across (texture, scene, die-cut). But because the colors and images are masculine and red, this satisfied the right column down as well (masculine, red, die-cut).  I added a fun die-cut sentiment to finish.
