Dragon Birthday Card

I used the theme from Less is More Saints, Dragons and Heroes and the colors from Card Concept challenge 54.

I bought the Critters Ever After stamp set for the unicorn image, but with this week’s challenge from Less is More, I couldn’t resist taking the opportunity to use the dragon.  With the queen’s 90th birthday this past week and equating purple with royalty, I used the colors inspired from Card Concept 54 and made this birthday card.  Birthday cards are always needed.

This is a CAS one layer birthday card using the Double Emboss technique. I first stamped the Make a Wish sentiment in black before double embossing the white panel with the Peek-a-Boo Circle Window die and the Geometric Next Level embossing folder. I created a reverse mask before stamping the dragon inside the window.  I sponged the purple background with distress inks and colored the dragon with Copics.  Stamped and colored another image of the wings on a separate piece of white cardstock so I can have the wing extend pass the window.  No embellishments.

  3. Wonderful – so creative how you’ve kept it to one layer but added so much texture and a feeling of dimension. I love this. Well done!
