Enjoy Retirement

Hello there!  I’m back with a rare type of card to share today.  Late last night my husband asked if I had a retirement card… he needed one for a colleagues who retired today!  Nothing like getting plenty of advance notice! 😂   So I woke up this morning to get started, but I could not for the life of me remember which set had the ‘happy retirement’ sentiment.  I found a slightly different retirement sentiment and ended with this.

Started by stamping the cocktail with Memento black ink on X-press It paper.  Masked it and the bottom part, then blended Squeezed Lemonade and Carved Pumpkin DOx inks with a mini blending tool.  Removed masks and coloured in the image with Copics.  Die cut ‘enjoy’ once from a scrap of X-press It paper and four more times from a scrap of regular thick white cardstock.  Ombré coloured the X-press It diecut with red Copic markers, then stacked all five pieces for dimension.

In my haste to get this done within the timeframe, I smeared ink on the panel.  No time to start over, so I die cut a frame from X-press It paper with an A2 size stitched rectangle die (retired) and a duo sided stitched rectangle die.  Adhered the panel to a white top folding card base and popped the frame up with foam tape to give it dimension.  Heat embossed ‘your retirement with white embossing powder on a black strip.  To finish, added clear shimmer to the umbrella and ‘enjoy’ diecut, Crystal Glaze to the glass and a few round clear drops.

My husband said his colleague loved it. 😊   Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

  4. Great retirement card Trina! That drink looks delicious!! 🙂 Wonderful colouring and ink blending. The glaze really makes the drink shine. Wonderful design Trina! xx

  5. Of course your husband’s colleague love the card! I love it too, Trina! The glossy glass and the shimmery layered die-cut sentiments are wonderful, but I think the background DOx ink distressing with the masking is the hidden MVP. It’s amazing that you thought about the design and made the card in one day! Hideko xx

  6. This fantastic retirement card looks like it took days to do, Trina! Love the shine of the glass! Great save of the smeared panel! Sometimes hiding those smears makes an even better card!

  7. What a wonderful card and with such short notice. That glass, the gloss and the colours look ready to drink. The sentiment looks wonderful too x

I love the glossy finish and the vibrant colours of the cocktail plus how you added the yellow around the glass just like the sun is shining through. And good save! Fab to see you at Time Out x
