Guest Designer for Just Us Girls #420

Hi everyone.  I’m back for my third post this month as guest designer for Just Us Girls (JUGS) challenge.  This week is a colour challenge and the colours are turquoise, brown and gold.

I thought these colours would make a great Christmas card, so here’s my card.

An A2 piece of Soft Suede cardstock was embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  The bear was stamped with black Memento ink on a scrap of X-Press It paper, coloured with Copics and die cut out with the coordinating die.  Took a circle diecut from my stash and sponged Tempting Turquoise on the upper part.

The sentiment was die cut from Soft Suede cardstock and a piece of gold gilding flakes I had from a crafty playdate at Loll’s back in September.  It was my first experience with gilding flakes, and although it’s beautiful, it sure is messy.

All pieces were mounted onto a white top folding card base and snow was added on the circle image with a white gel pen to finish.

This is such a cool colour combo, so I really hope you will join us this week.  For more inspirations, make sure to head over to the JUGS blog post HERE and check out the wonderful creations by the design team.  Thank you for dropping by.  Have a wonderful week.

  1. That bear is simply adorable and ever so cute. Love him all dressed up for a cold winter. Great touch with the falling snow especially on his face. I agree with you about gilding flakes – love ’em but can be messy especially if they get stuck on your fingers. Beautiful Trina.

  2. Gorgeous card Trina – what a sweet bear (Parsnip’s nose is pressed against the screen here, I do worry about him!). And your card is fabby, I love the way you cut the circle over the edge. But – gilding flakes, I need to lie in a darkened room each time I use those – and NEVER ever do it when you have a sneezing allergy or a cold. Trust me – I do know 🙂 So sweet of you to join in the Playground as well – life is busy and it’s so good to see you on the swings. Wait? Did Parsnip really charge you a 50 pence fee per time on the swing? Ha, I’ll be sorting that little entrepreneur out at the double! Smacked bottom and early to bed – after a little cuddle 🙂

  3. What an adorable card, and I love how you have used that embossing folder on brown. I always think white. Your little image is so stinkin’ cute. Great take on the color challenge!!!

  4. he’s such an adorable bear and love his Christmas over-sized sweater. Your sentiment is gorgeous, the warm colours of the gilding flakes is out of this world, worth all the mess 🙂
