Guest Designer for Just Us Girls #421

Hello there.  I’m back with my final post as the November 2017 guest designer for Just Us Girls (JUGS) challenge.  It’s been an honour and these challenges were so much fun.  For photo week, it’s a Christmas theme.

I was inspired by the tree and the turquoise / red colours.  Here’s my card.

Stamped the tree on Neenah cardstock with Memento black ink and coloured with Copics.  Stamped the sentiment with VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Masked the tree and hand cut a couple of hill masks then sponged Tempting Turquoise ink to create a wintery scene.  Wiped off excess ink with a tissue.

Next, it was spritz whith water and dabbed with a paper towel to for a snowy effect.  Quickly dried with a heat tool and added snowflakes with a white gel pen for a more complete winter scene.  Can’t have a Christmas card without some sparkle, so added clear shimmer to the snowy banks.

Mounted the panel to a white top folding card base. Added clear Crystal Glaze to the ornaments for dimension, and finished by shading the right side of the sentiment with a gray pencil to make it stand out more.

So that was actually the second version to more closely align with the photo inspiration.  My first version (below) included a bear and of course, there’s no bear in the photo 😂.  I like both versions, but I think the bear just makes it cuter, don’t you think?

Thank you JUGS team for having me this month.  Be sure to check out their beautiful creations on the JUGS blog HERE.  There are lots of elements in the photo to be inspired by.  Hope you will join us this week.  Love to see what inspired you.  Thank you for stopping by.  Happy holiday crafting!
