Hi everyone. Big day today! It’s not only the first Saturday of a new month, but here in Canada, it’s our 150th birthday! So I couldn’t believe how appropriate our challenge #335 Country Flag Colours is this week at Less is More. Our sponsor this month is Happy Little Stampers.
Here’s the Canadian flag.
RED AND WHITE CHRISTMAS
The idea for this card came to me as I rummaged through my bag of white scraps. There were so many circle diecuts (or it could have been from punches) and after making my first Christmas card this past week, I thought I would keep it going. 😉 The snowflakes were white heat embossed on two of the circles while the third was red heat embossed. On the white snowflake circles, Real Red ink was blended with a mini blending tool. All three were spritz with a DIY shimmer spray for a shiny look. The hook, drawn strings (used VersaMarker and t-ruler) and sentiment were heat embossed on a white scallop rectangle that I also found in my scrap stash.
RED AND WHITE BIRTHDAY
I finally got to use my NBUS Big You die after almost having it for a year. 😂 The you was die cut three times from white cardstock to be stacked for dimension. One of them was Ombré coloured with a mini blending tool and Real Red ink. And I love glitter, so clear shimmer was added to it. On a scrap of white cardstock, embossing paste was spread over a Halftone stencil and once dried, a balloon was die cut from it. I was just going to die cut a plain balloon, but I wanted more dimension especially with so much white. The sentiment was white heat embossed on vellum and the string was die cut from white cardstock. All elements were then adhered to an A2 piece of Bristol paper.
That’s all for me this week. Be sure to check out my team’s personal blogs for more inspirations. Hope you can play along this week. I’d love to see your country’s flag and what you create with their colours. Remember to keep your cards CAS and follow the challenge guidelines. Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! Thank you for visiting and have a great week!
