Less is More #351 Monsters

Hello everyone.  It’s time for a new challenge at Less is More (LIM).  The theme this week is Monsters.  It’s a fun one and definitely not limitrd to Halloween.  Once again, our wonderful sponsor this month is Uniko.

I only had one card for this week, but when I saw how similar it was to the card by my teamie Susan, I ended up making this Christmas card too.  Stamped the monster and hat with Memento black ink on snippets of X-Press It paper, coloured with Copics then die cut out.  The snowflakes (discontinued) and Monster Holiday Wishes greeting were white heat embossed on a snippet black stitched circle diecut.  Although the sentiment was a mix of stamps from two different companies, I was pleased to see the fonts matched!  The diagonal stripes is a snippet of washi tape.

And here’s the card that was similar to Susan’s and as my teamie Anita puts it – great minds think alike. 😂   Stamped the monster image with black Memento ink on a Wonky Stitched X-Press It rectangle.  Used the coordinating die to die cut a mask.  Quick since fussy cutting was not required.  Plus it leaves a white border.  Masked the monster then blended gray ink through a Radiating Rays stencil.  Coloured with Copics and black heat embossed the sentiment.  Added Crystal Glaze to the balloon and a few gumdrops to finish.

  1. You make the best monster cards, period! I just love these, Trina, and I’m pretty sure I saw you as a winner on one or more challenges ~ well-deserved! And great use of snippets, too! Hugs, Darnell

  2. Wow, that’s one fabulous snippets card with lots used – yet still CAS! I do love the other card too 🙂

Lovely to see you in the snippets playground!

    Di xx

  3. Two awesome creations, Trina. I loved your first card when I first saw it, the orange and green with the stencilled rays behind looks so effective. And a monster Christmas card was a fabulous idea, and a great colour scheme with the purple and black. Both of these are great, and gender neutral too xx

  4. What are the chances that we had such similar cards…I’m actually surprised it doesn’t happen more often. Your cards are just the best…love them both!

  5. Another week with two fabulous cards ! It seems that we both think alike for the sketch and colours ! And I love this Monster Christmas card with those colours ! Your second card (or should I say your first one ) is so cute with this adorable and happy monster ! He is just ready for the party ! As usual your colouring is amazing and you always have fabulous ideas with your background ! Have a fabulous week ! xx

  6. This is such a great little monster card and perfect for our monster themed challenge. I love that you design a perfect birthday card with such a sweet little monster. Thank you for joining us at Cupcake Inspirations!!!

  7. Trina, you needn’t have made a second card but honestly I love being inspired by your cards so I’m happy that you did. These are both brilliant takes with monsters and I’ve never seen a Christmas monster on a card but it’s an awesome way to stretch your stamps and such a cool design too. Loads of perfect attention detail yet still jaw-droppingly gorgeous CAS too. Can’t pick a favourite – they’re are both oozing cuteness and cheekiness! Have a brilliant week xx

  8. What an awesome couple of cards Trina! That rich purple colour looks amazing on the first card and I love that you teamed the image with white embossing and some washi tape. That is a cool look for Christmas. Your birthday card stole my heart though.. Such a happy little monster and the ray burst behind it is really effective. Hope you have a fantastic week xx
