Hello everyone. My card today combines another CASE challenge with flamingos and sparkle inspiration theme challenges. I was excited to do these challenges because I wanted to break out two Altenew stamp sets I have never used before.
I stamped the front magnolia flower from Magnolias For Her on Bristol paper with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with a really cool Silver Pearl embossing powder (and you’ll see why later in this post). I then created a mask for that flower and masked it off before stamping the second flower and the flower bud in VersaMark. I removed the mask and heat embossed with the same embossing powder. I began coloring the flowers with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, but then switched over to Polychromous pencils. I was not happy with the Zig marker choices for pinks as a flamingo color. After I finished coloring, I fussy cut it out then added some clear Wink of Stella for some more sparkle.
I stamped the Halftone Smile sentiment on black cardstock with VersaMark. I heat embossed it with the same Silver Pearl embossing powder and then die cut it out with the matching die. As you can see, the cool thing about this embossing powder is when used on white cardstock, it appears white, while on black cardstock, it looks silver. For the background I wanted the colors to fade towards the centre, so I inked up the Wide Stripes background stamp with a black Ombre ink pad from the top then from the bottom, each time making sure the lightest ink color is in the middle of the panel. I stamped the stripes onto a 6×6 piece of white cardstock twice using my MISTI, then trimmed it down to A2 size
I attached the stripe A2 panel to a white card base before assembling my card. I placed a nest of silver thread on the bottom half and adhered the sentiment over top to hold the thread in place. For dimension, I added the flowers with mounting tape and finished off with silver sequins.
I am playing in the following challenges:
