Mermaid

Hello everyone.  Hope you are enjoying your weekend. I have a really simple card to share today.  Mythical creatures such as mermaids, fairies and unicorns seem to be very popular right now.  And I love it.  When I saw the Little Mermaids set, I couldn’t resist buying it as soon as it was released.

I stamped the mermaid on an A2 white piece of cardstock with black ink.  I wanted to have a little fun coloring her with Copics, so I gave her purple hair. After I finished coloring her, I masked off either sides of her so that I can create a column of water beneath her.

To create the water, I made vertical strokes with a few different blue color markers, ensuring to leave lighter areas to mimic water reflections. To create the bubbles I went in with the Colorless Blender to remove some of the blue colors.

I stamped the little water scene in black and heat embossed the sentiment. For a little shimmer, I added some clear Wink of Stella to her top and tail. A little confession. The card was done until my inky fingers smeared some black ink in the top right corner. I didn’t want to start over, so I added the stripe strip to the right side to cover it up.
