Time Out Challenge #102 Love Photo

Hello there.  I am thrilled to be back at Time Out (TO) as their guest designer for their photo challenge #102.  Here’s the photo.

Valentines is coming up and this photo is perfect.  I took inspirations from the colours, the word ‘love’, the hearts and the stripes to create a non-traditional colour Valentine / love card.

Using the MISTI, the Diagonal Stripes background stamp was lightly inked with black Memento ink and stamped onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Because the stamp is cling rubber and the stripes are diagonal, it was inked lightly so that I can align the couple image (discontinued) so that the stripes went up and down.  The image was white heat embossed twice, then the piece was put back into the MISTI to be re-stamped several times to darken up the lines.  It was difficult to get a good impression of the lines, so I went in with a black marker.  The image was then die cut out with a heart die (retired).

In my large collection of word dies, I couldn’t believe I don’t own a love word die.  Well, thank goodness for alphabet dies.  ‘Love’ was die cut from scraps of X-Press It paper using Bold Alphabet.  It was Ombré coloured with Copics then covered with VersaMark and heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder for some sparkle.  ‘You’ (unknown brand) was die cut from a gold embossed piece from my stash.  I don’t have gold cardstock, so I created my own with gold embossing powder.  I will emboss a piece of cardstock larger than what I need so that on the rare occasion that I need it, I have some on hand.

A white A2 stitched rectangle panel was adhered to a top folding card base before the card was assembled.  Glossy Accents was added to the word ‘you’ to give it some dimension and gold sequins finished off the card.

Hope you will take some time out of your busy schedule to play along.  The TO design team have made some wonderful cards to inspire you and you can view them HERE.  Thank you for visiting.  Have a great day.

Pink Polar Hello

Hello there.  Today I am sharing a card that I made for a friend who’s been having a rough time lately.   Unfortunately, she hasn’t received this yet, and when she does, I hope it will brighten her day a little.  And I’m proud to report that I made it with all NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff)!  I couldn’t believe it – FOUR off my massive NBUS list!!! Thanks, Darnell, for running this great challenge.  And here’s my card.

I wanted to make a pink hello card with the NBUS Polar Bear Pals stamp set that I just got a week ago.  To start, a white A2 piece of cardstock was dry embossed with NBUS Softly Falling embossing folder.  The bears were stamped on scraps of X-press It paper with Memento black ink, coloured wth RV and C gray Copic markers then fussy cut out.  Friend from NBUS Thoughtful Messages (a gift from sweet Loll) was white heat embossed on a scrap of black cardstock.  I wanted the left bear to hold it, so I cut around his arm and tucked it under.

The letters from NBUS Bold Alphabet were die cut from more scraps of X-press it paper and also from black cardstock to be stacked.  The white diecut letters were coloured with the same RV Copic markers as the scarves.

The embossed panel was mounted onto a white landscape top folding cardbase before the card was assembled.  The bears were mounted with foam adhesive for dimension and clear shimmer was added for some sparkle to finish.

Thank Ink you for stopping by.  Have a great day!
