Butterfly Beautiful Birthday

Hi there.  I am sharing a CAS birthday card today..  It was really quick to make since most of the pieces were from snippets I already had.

A few Sundays back, I had a craftydate with friends (Loll, Christine and Susan) and we did smooshing with tissue paper and Distress Oxide (DOx) inks.  I came home with seven different pieces.  The Wilted Violet / Cracked Pistachio one was used here.  It was glued to a scrap of white cardstock and then die cut with a NBUS hexagon die.

The hexagon die was then used to die cut on a white Stitched Rectangle snippet panel.  For dimension, the hexagons were also die cut from black cardstock and stacked for dimensional inlay diecutting.  The sentiment was black heat embossed.

The outline butterfly was attached to the solid butterfly only in the centre to allow the wings to move freely for a 3-D effect.  The butterflies were also snippets. And that finishes the card.

Thank you for visiting.  Have a great day!

Butterfly Splat

Hi there.  Busy long weekend and today I got back to crafting in My Crafting Closet to create a fun CAS card.

The splatter was inked with distress inks in rainbow colours, spritz with water, then stamped onto watercolor paper.  The butterfly was white heat embossed on vellum to minimize covering up the colourful splat.  It was die cut out with the matching die and popped up with foam adhesive.

The stripes was stamped on a white cardstock strip and adeed to the left-hand side.  The sentiment was white heat embossed on a black cardstock strip.

For something different and fun, crystal clear sequins were used to create the butterfly trail.

Thank you for dropping by.  Have a fun day!

Inlaid Happy Day

Hi there.  I can’t believe it’s the last week of April already and it was actually nice here today.  It also inspired me to make today’s CAS rainbow card using the inlaid die cutting technique.

Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frame was used first to die cut an area of a white A2 panel then set aside for later.  The frame was then die cut from Bristol paper.  I wanted to create a sky scene within the frame, so the inside scallop rectangle was die cut with a cloud border die.  Distress inks were sponged on to the top piece in rainbow colours to create the sun rays coming out from the clouds.

The butterfly was stamped with black Memento ink on a scrap of X-press It paper, coloured with Copics and then fussy cut out.  Clear shimmer was added to the rainbow rays and butterfly for some sparkle.  The sentiment was black heat embossed on the bottom piece.

To give some depth to the frame once it was inlaid, gray ink was sponged around the perimeter of the negative diecut rectangle.

That piece was adhered to a white top folded card base and the frame was inlaid into that open space.  For dimension, a second frame was die cut from Bristol paper and stacked. The butterfly was mounted with foam adhesive and a few clear sequins were added to finish.

Thank you for stopping by.
