Peek-a-Boo Dragons

Hello everyone.  I want to share a simple but sweet peek-a-boo birthday card I created for my sweet little niece who just turned 13.  Her birthday was actually at the end of September, but I was away on my trip and then I was sick last week.  So with WCMD I was able to make her birthday card.

Birthday Peek-a-Boo Dragons

I die cut two A2 stitched rectangles from white cardstock and then die cut the two sizes of the rounded stitched rectangle openings. The rainbow and clouds were die cut also from white cardstock. The rainbow was coloured with Copics and finished off with some clear Wink of Stella.

I used the larger positive diecut of the rounded rectangle for the bottom layer which was adhered directly to the cardbase.  Tumbled Glass distress ink was added to the bottom and middle layers for the sky. I stamped the dragons with Memento black ink, coloured them also with Copics and die cut them out with the matching dies. I mounted the middle and top layers with foam adhesives to give depth and dimension.

The card was assembled onto a white top folding card base.  Stamped happy birthday on the inside and that was it.

Buddy & Ducky

Happy Friday everyone!  Today I am sharing another NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) card combined with tic tac toe, balloons, color and stitch challenges.

On a piece of white cardstock slightly larger than A2 size, I randomly sponged on some Broken China distress inks for the sky.  I cut a couple of NBUS stitched clouds from white cardstock, cut one in half, and adhered them to the sponged background.  Then I die cut that background piece with an A2 size stitched rectangle die.  To create the window, I die cut with the largest size Inside & Out Stitch Rounded Rectangle.

My other NBUS item is the Buddy and Duck stamp set from Penny Black.  I wanted to have these two critters chatting away as they float off to the upper right corner. I stamped Buddy and Duck with black Memento ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut them out.  For some dimension, I added glossy accents to the balloons.

Now to put my card together, I added foam adhesive to the frame and the critters. I adhered the frame to a top folding white card base, inlaid the rounded rectangle piece, and then added Buddy and Duck. I stamped the sentiment in blue on a white stitched curve banner and mounted it with foam adhesive as well.  To finish and complete the top row across of the tic tac toe challenge, I added a few sequins.

Magical Dragons

Hello everyone.  It’s been a while because I’ve been away.  It’s so nice to be back in My Crafting Closet.  My first project back is a fun little card with the new Magical Dragons stamp set from MFT and I knew I wanted to use it for The Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge #306.

I ended up completing the bottom row across and the right column down. I created a scene inside a castle with one of the dragons peering in through a window.  I stamped and colored the dragons with Copics and then die cut them out with the matching dies.  The wall was created with a wall stencil and texture paste colored with gray reinker. This was my first time using texture paste and I love the texture and dimension it gives. That completed the bottom row across (texture, scene, die-cut). But because the colors and images are masculine and red, this satisfied the right column down as well (masculine, red, die-cut).  I added a fun die-cut sentiment to finish.

I am playing in the following challenges:

Sparkle & Shine Card

My back is feeling better and I am finally able to play in my crafting closet. And since the main reason I started this blog was to have a place to post my challenge cards, this will be my first challenge post.

I combined Challenge 67-Die Cutting from Neat and Tangled and the April Challenge – Ladies’ Night from Great Impressions.

First, I created a watercolor background on watercolor paper with distress inks.  After I dried it with the heat tool, I used the MISTI to stamp the Sparkle & Shine sentiment in black.  I then die cut the Hexastar Cover Plate from white cardstock.  I adhered that piece to the watercolor layer before putting it back into the MISTI to stamp over the cover piece.  Perfect alignment with the MISTI.

To create the diamond, I made 2 partial die cuts one from white cardstock and one from white glitter paper.  I then cut out the diamond shape from these and stacked the outline pieces together to give it dimension.  I inlaid the die cut triangle glitter pieces and added some Wink of Stella clear glitter to the sentiment to finish.

It may be non-traditional, but I’m thinking of giving this as a Mother’s Day card.
