Pink Polar Hello

Hello there.  Today I am sharing a card that I made for a friend who’s been having a rough time lately.   Unfortunately, she hasn’t received this yet, and when she does, I hope it will brighten her day a little.  And I’m proud to report that I made it with all NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff)!  I couldn’t believe it – FOUR off my massive NBUS list!!! Thanks, Darnell, for running this great challenge.  And here’s my card.

I wanted to make a pink hello card with the NBUS Polar Bear Pals stamp set that I just got a week ago.  To start, a white A2 piece of cardstock was dry embossed with NBUS Softly Falling embossing folder.  The bears were stamped on scraps of X-press It paper with Memento black ink, coloured wth RV and C gray Copic markers then fussy cut out.  Friend from NBUS Thoughtful Messages (a gift from sweet Loll) was white heat embossed on a scrap of black cardstock.  I wanted the left bear to hold it, so I cut around his arm and tucked it under.

The letters from NBUS Bold Alphabet were die cut from more scraps of X-press it paper and also from black cardstock to be stacked.  The white diecut letters were coloured with the same RV Copic markers as the scarves.

The embossed panel was mounted onto a white landscape top folding cardbase before the card was assembled.  The bears were mounted with foam adhesive for dimension and clear shimmer was added for some sparkle to finish.

Thank Ink you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Buddy with NBUS Happy

Happy Monday everyone. Today I am sharing a CAS birthday card created for my sweet crafty friend Nancy. Her birthday is today! Unfortunately, I didn’t send it early enough and she did not get this before leaving on her trip… so surprise, Nancy! Hope you’re enjoying your birthday getaway. For her card, I brought back my favourite Buddy image and paired him with a NBUS happy die. Love these triple layer word dies.

An A2 size stitched rectangle was die cut from X-press It paper. Buddy was stamped with Memento black ink then coloured and shaded with cool gray Copic markers.

The word happy and first layer were die cut from white cardstock. The happy word diecut was placed back into the negative piece to make it easier to colour it with a mini blending tool and distress inks.

The bottom happy layer was die cut from black cardstock and another happy word was die cut from white cardstock to be stacked. Birthday was white heat embossed on a scrap of black cardstock. The stitched panel was mounted to a top folding card base before the sentiments were adhered. Clear shimmer on the pastel coloured happy finished the card.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

Guest Designer for Inkspirational

Hi everyone.  I am here today to share another spring themed card as the guest designer for Inkspirational challenge #132 Spring.

My card was based on rainbows and the phrase April showers.

The sky background was created with a diecut cloud border stencil, a mini blending tool and Tumbled Glass distress ink on a white Stitched Rectangle.

The NBUS umbrellas were die cut from scraps of smooth Bristol paper.  The solid umbrellas were coloured with various rainbow colour distress Oxide inks with a mini blending tool.  They were then spritz with water, and after a few seconds, blotted with a paper towel.  Once completely air dried, the umbrella outlines were adhered on top.  For some sparkle, clear shimmer was added to each section. Had I thought of it beforehand, I would have added the shimmer to the whole solid umbrella before attaching the outline.

The NBUS sentiment was stamped with Archival black ink before the panel was mounted to a white top folding card base to be assembled.

NBUS Lily

Hi there.  Today’s CAS card was unexpected.  There is a new NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) challenge I wanted to try.  I found out about this challenge from Di at Pixie’s Crafty Workshop who posted  a heads up about it last week.  Like many of you crafters out there,  I am so guilty of purchasing with good intentions, and then letting them collect dust.  There is just so much good schtuff out there and so little time to use them. *lol*  Needless to say, I have a large stash of NBUS, which made deciding what NBUS to use first the toughest part of creating today’s card!  So my chosen NBUS is this stamp set To Have & To Hold, which was purchased several months ago.  This is a wedding stamp set, but I saw potential for more.

Card created for challenges CAS-ual Fridays #155 Black & White with a Pop of Color, HLS CAS Masking, HLS CASE Gloria Lee, NBUS #7 and Pixie's Snippets Playground #244.

First, I die cut a heart mask and masked the centre of a white A2 Stitched Rectangle.  I created the masks for the lilies by stamping them on labelling tape with Archival black ink and fussy cutting them out.  I then stamped the lilies around the heart mask, masking each lily before stamping the next.

I removed the lily masks and left the heart mask in place while I colored and shaded the lilies with a black Polychromous pencil for a black and white look.  For a pop of color, I removed the heart mask and stamped the sending sentiment with Velvet dye ink and VersaMark.  I heat embossed it with a clear glitter embossing powder.

The red glitter hugs die-cut was a snippet I didn’t end up using when I created THIS card and opted for a white glitter hugs sentiment.  For dimension, I die cut 2 more hugs from white cardstock and stacked them.  To finish I added a few sparkling clear sequins and mounted it onto a white card base.  With all the masking this is a one layer card.
