Guest Designer for CAS on Friday Challenge #139 – Butterflies

Hello there!  I am so excited to be guest designing today at CAS on Friday for their challenge #139 Butterflies.  There were so many options, but in the end I used a new die I recently purchased.  And here’s my card.

I wanted to try the faux stained glass technique and thought this Drifting Side Butterfly die would be perfect for a first attempt.  To start, the solid butterfly was die cut from Bristol paper and the outline butterfly was die cut four times from silver foil paper.  Coloured the solid Bristol butterfly with Zig markers then stacked the silver outline butterflies on top.  Added Crystal Glaze to the individual sections, then set aside to dry.

For a bit of interest, took a black A2 panel from my stash and scored a grid background with my scoring tool.  Heat embossed the sentiment in silver below the grid.  Attached the panel to a white card base and adhered the butterfly to finish.

That does it for me, but be sure to check out more wonderful inspirations from the design team at CAS on Friday HERE.  Thank you for visiting!

A Couple of CASE Cards

Hello again!  It’s nice to have a bit more energy the last few days to craft.  This is why it’s my third day in a row that I’m posting!  Today I have two cards to share.   STAMPlorations is celebrating 5 years this month and their challenge is to CASE their STAMPgirls.  There are so many inspiring projects by the talented STAMPgirls.  I just chose what jumped out at me and what I have in my supplies. 😉  These cards were super easy and quick.

RAINBOW

First up is this rainbow card from Lisa.  I love rainbows and was wanting to play in the Papercraft #14 Rainbow Challenge anyeway, so this is what resulted.

On a stitched rectangle die cut from Neenah cardstock, stamped the gifts with Memento black ink and coloured with Copics.

Black heat embossed the sentiment, then adhered the panel to a white landscape top folding card base.  Added a few clear sequins to finish.

MASCULINE

Next up is this masculine card from Linda.  I’ve had a couple of NBUS stamp sets from Jane’s Doodles that screamed to be inked up.  And here’s my card.

On Neenah cardstock and with Memento black ink again, stamped the stack of books, masked it then stamped the cup.  Coloured with Copics and then added some brown splatters.

Black heat embossed the sentiment and clear heat embossed the steam.  Die cut out with a stitched rectangle die and mounted it with foam tape for dimension to a white top folding card base to finish.

Two easy-peasy cards.  Thank you for your time.  Have a great day!

The Next Chapter

Hello there.  Guess what?  No rainbow birthday card to share today!  Instead I have a new home card for a neighbour who moved last week.  She was really upset about it, but it was necessary as she needed help.

I love die cuts and there are so many fun die cutting techniques. One of my favourites is faux dry embossing.  I did this technique with the three white houses where I die cut them from Whisper White cardstock and adhered them to a Whisper White A2 panel.

Welcome’ and the little home were die cut three times from Whisper White cardstock as well and stacked for dimension.  The top layer was ombré coloured with Blueptint Sketch distress ink and a mini blending tool.   The stamped sentiment was white heat embossed on a black strip.  Once all pieces were assembled on the panel, it was adhered to a white top folding card base.  Crystal glaze finished off the card.

I also had a friend who recently had to downsize and move.  She loves purple, so I made a similar card for her.  This one was not CAS as there were three rows of faux dry embossed houses.  Hopefully she will receive it some time this week,

Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!
