Birthday Birthdays

Hello there.  February is a busy birthday month here, especially in this final week of February with my hubby’s, BIL’s, FIL’s and SIL’s birthdays!   Two, of course, are on the same day since my hubby and his brother are twins.  So I have more birthday cards to share as I continue with the 4th Birthday Bash challenges from Winnie and Walter.

The colours from this photo inspiration are similar to this Color Combo and they matched a package of Pretty in Pink Sparkle Blends I received from my friend Amber… so it only made sense to create this shaker for my hubby (even though he’s not a fan of pink 😂).  To start, ‘happy’ was die cut from an A2 size Neenah piece of cardstock.  The inner pieces of the letters were saved for later.  Stamped the hat, masked it then stamped the bear (from the same set).  Masked her (she represents me 😉), then blended pink dye ink through a Peppermint Zone stencil.

Removed masks and coloured in the images with Copics.  Covered the ‘happy’ opening with acetate from the back then used the happy diecut as a guide to inlay the inner letter pieces, adhering them to the front of the acetate.  ‘Happy’ was die cut from fun foam and aligned from the back to create the shaker well. Filled the well with sequins, then adhered a pink inked piece of cardstock to close off the shaker.

Mounted the panel to a white top folding card base.  White heat embossed ‘birthday to you’ on a strip of gold cardstock.  Added clear shimmer to the stencilled spiral and some sequins to finish.

This next card was inspired by another card from Kelly.  Circle dies were used to dry emboss the concentric circle background on a Mixed Media panel.

On another piece of Mixed Media paper, the rings of images/sentiment were white heat embossed.  Ink blended Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron distress inks (DI).  Wiped off excess ink with a tissue. Spritz with water and dried with a paper towel for a bit of texture.  Die cut out with a circle die.

Stamped the balloon image from the set with the same four DIs.  No matching dies, so they were fussy cut out.  A white gel pen was used to give the balloons highlights.  Adhered the panel to a white top folding card base and foam mounted the circle and the balloons for dimension.  Adhered a black white heat embossed sentiment strip and added Crystal Glaze to the balloons to finish.

Magic Square

Hello there.  I have a silly, but fun card to share this weekend.  I don’t know how it happened, but today’s card is another CASE card challenge combined with squares and animals theme challenges.

Simple square shaker card created for challenges Time Out #64, Cards in Envy Hip to be Square, SSS Wednesday Hip to be Square and Mod Squad Pets/AnimalsSo my idea was to have the dragon fly into the square shaker and magically change color.  So silly, but fun, right?  Anyway, I stamped the Diagonal Stripes  with Ocean Waves ink onto a white A2 size Stitched Rectangle.  I die cut out the square shaker frame in the centre using 2 sizes of Stitched Square dies, then adhered the negative piece to a top folding white card base.  To create the shaker layer, I die cut a Stitched Rectangle from white cardstock.  I took the smaller of the 2 square dies used to die cut the frame and die cut out the shaker window opening.  I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the opening, and added foam adhesive around the perimeter to create the area that will house the sequins.  WIth only one layer of foam adhesive, this is a fairly flat shaker card.

Simple square shaker card created for challenges Time Out #64, Cards in Envy Hip to be Square, SSS Wednesday Hip to be Square and Mod Squad Pets/AnimalsI stamped the dragon and firey smoke with black Memento ink onto two 2.5″ square pieces of white Ultrasmooth cardstock and colored with Copics.  I stamped the shaker dragon off to the side and colored it red and yellow. The outside dragon was colored in grey and die cut out with the matching die.  Next up is putting the shaker portion together.  I peeled the liners from the foam adhesive, added the sequins, then attached the red dragon square piece.  I trimmed the grey dragon and lined it up with the shaker dragon before adhering the frame

I added more double-sided foam adhesive to the back so the layer doesn’t sag and is flat, then adhered it to the striped card front.  To finish, the sentiment was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder on a black curve slice diecut.
