Seize the Birthday Anything Goes

I have moved to a new blog… click image for it (this post will be there, too)

I

Hello there!  I’m here today with my next guest post for Seize the Birthday.  It’s a super easy one with Anything Goes… so no optional topping this fortnight!

I wanted to use this newly purchased Butterfly Gown stencil… so pretty, don’t you think?  And here is my card.

The side strip was created with the stencil monoprint technique.  To begin, an A2 size stitched rectangle was die cut from Bristol paper.  Masked the right side, leaving a panel down the left.  Next, applied Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch distress inks directly to the back of a Flourish stencil.  Generously spritz it with water, then flipped it over onto the Bristol panel.  A paper towel was used to absorb excess water, completing the stencil monoprint.

For the image, Black Soot distress oxide ink (DOx) was pounced through the gown stencil with a mini blending tool, and then heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Stamped the sentiment with Tumbled Glass distress ink and then adhered the panel to a white card base to finish.

I had a couple of stencil monoprint pieces from a retreat back in May that I turned into birthday cards for a couple of crafty friends last month.  A really fun easy technique.

Supplies: Funky Fossil Floral Beauty stencil, WPlus9 Birthday Wishes stamp set, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch DOx inks

Supplies: Tim Holtz Wildflower stencil, Paper Smooches Happy Birthday stamp set, Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron DOx inks

That’s all from me for today.  Find more inspirations HERE from the design team at Seize the Birthday.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!

Seize the Birthday – Water

I have moved to a new blog… click image for it (this post will be there, too)

Hello there!  I’m back with my third guest designer card for Seize the Birthday.  As always, the challenge is Anything Goes Birthday with an optional topping.  The optional topping this fortnight is Water.

I used a couple of new / unused stamp sets to create this birthday card for my dad.  His birthday is at the end of this month.

I purchased this really cool layering Wave stamp set last month and couldn’t think of a better time to use it.  It is one of the easiest, if not the easiest, layering stamp sets I’ve used.  So to start, stamped the wave layers with Caribbean Sky, Persian Blue and Sapphire dye inks on an A2 size Whisper White panel.  Then die cut it out with a Stitched Rectangle.

Next, stamped the surfing shark on X-press It paper with Memento black ink and coloured with Copics.  With no matching dies offered, I fussy cut it out.  Black heat embossed the sentiment with Versafine black ink and clear embossing powder.  Mounted the panel onto a white card base with white fun foam, and then adhered the shark with mounting tape to finish.

Initially I couldn’t decide which surfing shark to use, so I stamped and coloured them both.  It seemed like such a waste not to use the other shark, so I stamped a wave background in portrait style, black heat embossed a different sentiment… and voila! completed a masculine birthday card to add to my stash!

That does it for me, but click HERE to see the wonderful cards the design team at Seize the Birthday have made to inspire you to join in.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a super day!

Seize the Birthday – Stripes

Hi there.  I’m back today with my second guest designer card for Seize the Birthday and the optional topping this round is Stripes.

I chose to use the toppings again to create this colourful birthday card.

First, stamped the dragon and cake piece with Memento black ink on Neenah cardstock.  Coloured them with Copics then fussy cut them out.  Used my paper trimmer to cut a piece of mixed media paper down to A2 size.  Blended Distress Oxide inks (Candied Apple, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean) with a mini blending tool.  Overlapped the colours to get secondary colours.  Spritz with water and lifted with a paper towel for some texture.

Next, die cut the Large Stripe cover plate from regular white cardstock then black heat embossed the sentiment with clear glitter embossing powder.  Finished by adhering the elements onto a white top folding card base.

And that does it for me, but click HERE to see the beautiful birthday cards from the fabulous design team at Seize the Birthday.  Hope you will join us!  Thank you for dropping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Seize the Birthday – Sequins

Hi everyone!  I am thrilled and honoured to announce that I will be guesting at Seize the Birthday challenge for the next two months!

The challenges are anything goes birthdays with optional toppings.  The optional topping this time is Sequins and I chose to use the toppings to create a shaker card.

To start, the Happy Birthday Circle Frame was die cut from mixed media paper.  Attached a piece of acetate on the back.  Added foam tape around the perimeter of the circle to create a frame to encase the sequins.  Ensure there are no gaps.

Next, took a piece of white cardstock large enough to cover the frame opening and adhered some sequins to it.  I like doing this so you can see the sequins even when the card is upright.  Removed the adhesive liners, added the sequins, then enclosed with the white cardstock.  Attached the completed shaker element to a white card base.  Completed the card by die cutting the circle frame from gold foil cardstock and inlaid it.  The bear, which was previously coloured with Copics last month on day 21 of the Daily Marker coloring challenge was adhered to the front to finish.

There are plenty of fabulous inspirations from the talented design team at Seize the Birthday.  Click HERE to check them out!  Hope to see your birthday cards in the gallery!  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!
