CAS Christmas July Challenge – Poinsettia

Hello there!  It’s Christmas in July (and every month for that matter 😂) here at CAS Christmas.  This month’s theme is Poinsettia!  And here’s my card.

I started by white heat embossing the poinsettia three times on scraps of Bristol paper.  Watercolored them with a watercolor brush and a couple of blue Zig markers. Added clear shimmer for some sparkle and then fussy cut them out.

Next, created an antique frame by die cutting an opening in the center of a white A2 size Bristol piece.  Adhered the top and bottom two poinsettias directly onto the card base itself.  Popped up with mounting tape the middle one and the frame for dimension.  Silver heat embossed the sentiment on a white strip and adhered to finish.

Marina of My Perfect Life was our May winner and is now our wonderful guest this month.  Be sure to head on over to the main blog post HERE to see the beautiful cards she and my teammies have made to inspire you to play along.  As always, thank you for stopping by.  Enjoy your day!

Enjoying Paradise

Happy Monday!  I was coloring the images with Copics from this new NBUS set yesterday when several challenges popped into mind, resulting in this easy summer card.

Took a Bristol stitched rectangle panel from my stash and stamped the penguin and palm tree with Archival black ink.  Watercolored the tropical scene with Zig markers and a watercolor brush.  Used a Soft Suede SU! marker to add texture to the sand and a white gel pen to add cresting waves in the water.

Die cut ‘enjoy’ from a scrap of Bristol paper twice and once from black.  Ombré coloured one of the white pieces with Zigs, then stacked and offset.  Mounted the panel to a white top folding card base and added clear shimmer to the die cut sentiment to finish.

And that was it.  Thank you for visiting.  Enjoy your day!

CAS Christmas May Reminder – Snowman

Hi everyone.  Just a quick reminder that there’s one week left to enter your CAS Snowman Christmas card into our May challenge at CAS Christmas.

So I didn’t think I had any snowman dies, but while going through my supplies for another project, I came across this Winter Scene Border die.  Since I love rainbow colors any time of the year, I created this soft simple rainbow colour Christmas card.

First, two rectangle stick frames were die cut from a scrap of mix media paper.  Watercolor block stamping was used to create the background by scribbling Zig markers in rainbow colours on an acrylic stamping block, spritzing with water then stamping onto one of the rectangles.  It was set aside to dry.  The other rectangle was die cut with the snowman border die.

Initially, I was going to stack the two white stick frames, but then decided to add some sparkle and die cut a frame from a scrap of silver foil sheets.  The sentiment was silver heat embossed on a white stitched rectangle panel.  The elements were assembled on the panel before it was mounted onto a white top folding card base.  Clear shimmer added to the rainbow background finished off the card.

Hope to see your CAS snowman card in our gallery.  For more inspirations from our talented guest Barb and my team, click HERE.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!

BEARY CHRISTMAS

On a top folding Mixed Media card base, black heat embossed the bear, Santa sleigh and sentiment.  Masked the bear and die cut a reverse dome mask from copy paper.  Blended Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire distress inks for the background.  Mixed Perfect Pearls with water and splaltered to create the stars.  Repeated with acrylic white paint.  Removed masks and coloured the bear image with Zig markers.

Up on the Rooftop

Hi there.  So I am having internet connection issues, so this will be a quick post.  My Christmas card today was inspired by “Up on the Housetop” Christmas song.

Up on the Rooftop Reindeer CRd

The scene I wanted to create was having the reindeer playing on the snowy rooftop.  I heat embossed the reindeer in black and watercolored them and the sky with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers on hot press watercolor paper.  I die cut the reindeer with the matching dies.  The brick detail was created by ink blending through a stencil.  I used Sahara Sand ink for the wall and Rusty Hinge, Barn Door and Black Soot distress inks for the chimney.

The icicles were die cut from white cardstock.  I added glossy accents and sprinkled Dazzling Diamond glitter on top to give it a glistening effect.  The shadows beneath the reindeer were done with Copics.

I stamped the sentiment with Archival black ink and used a white gel pen to add snow and complete my snowy rooftop scene.  The whole panel was mounted on a top folding white card base.
