Thanks Card

Good morning!  My card today combines the Freshly Made Sketch 234 with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes. There are a few Anything Goes challenges out there, but I used this one because the sentiment on my card is from Simon Says Stamp.

This is a simple thank you card created with the Embossing Folder Stamping technique.   This is a great way to stretch your embossing folders by turning them into a stamp.

I took the SU! Woodland embossing folder (available this June) and inked up the flat side of the embossing folder with distress inks.  I wanted to have white space around the image so the inked area was smaller than the size of the watercolor paper.  Next I spritz the embossing folder with water and then pressed the watercolor paper on top.  After a few seconds, I lifted the paper and layed a paper towel on top to remove excess water.  This leaves a soft watercolor “stamped” image.

I stamped You’re Pretty Awesome with Archival waterproof black ink using my MISTI. It is difficult to get a crisp impression on watercolor paper, so this tool allowed me to stamp the sentiment multiple times until I got a crisp impression. I then die cut thanks twice from white cardstock and once from black cardstock to give some dimension to an otherwise flat card. 😛

  1. I’d never have known you’d done this with an embossing folder. I thought you’d used a stamp – such a clever technique! Love the bold sentiment over the top!
