Time for the Bubbly

Hi there.  Today, I am sharing my second entry for MFT’s Card Design Superstar Contest. As some of you may have noticed, most of the stamp sets I own from MFT are the cute Birdie Brown stamp sets.  So when MFT re-released WTG Time for the Bubbly stamp set this summer in celebration of their 10 year anniversary, it was a surprise to me that I wanted to buy it.  But that image is so synonymous with MFT and I love that I have it now as part of my non-cute collection.  Then several weeks ago, they had Flashy Florals on sale, and I bought that to grow my collection.  Hence, I felt it was only fitting to pair these sets together to create this peek-a-boo card.  Not sure if this is the correct name for this type of card either.

I stamped the image with black ink, colored with pencils, then fussy cut it out. This image makes me think of a relaxing spa, so that was the feel I was going for. I kept the colours soft and because the image itself is quite feminine, I chose a blue/grey colour palette.  I stamped the flowers and leaves using my MISTI and die cut them out with the matching dies.  I added clear Wink of Stella to the flowers – what girl doesn’t like glitter, right?

Using the Mini Fringe die, I die cut three strips of fringe from shimmery white cardstock to create a curtain backdrop through the opening.  For the peek-a-boo layers, I die cut two A2 white stitch rectangles using the die from Blueprints 25.  I die cut the upper layer with Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Circle Windows and the bottom layer with Cross-Stitch Circle STAX.  I adhered the bottom layer directly onto the card base over the fringe and mounted the upper layer with foam adhesives. I was going to mount both layers with foam adhesives, but it would have made the card really bulky.

I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on a black straight stitch banner die cut with the die from Blueprints 25.  To finish, I added glossy accents to the wine glass and clear sequins for bubbles.

  1. What a fabulous card – I love the circular opening, the way you made a curtain and the legs poking out. I hope you don’t mind that I pinned it for inspiration. Thanks for joining in at City Crafter.
