CAS Christmas July Challenge – Poinsettia

Hello there!  It’s Christmas in July (and every month for that matter 😂) here at CAS Christmas.  This month’s theme is Poinsettia!  And here’s my card.

I started by white heat embossing the poinsettia three times on scraps of Bristol paper.  Watercolored them with a watercolor brush and a couple of blue Zig markers. Added clear shimmer for some sparkle and then fussy cut them out.

Next, created an antique frame by die cutting an opening in the center of a white A2 size Bristol piece.  Adhered the top and bottom two poinsettias directly onto the card base itself.  Popped up with mounting tape the middle one and the frame for dimension.  Silver heat embossed the sentiment on a white strip and adhered to finish.

Marina of My Perfect Life was our May winner and is now our wonderful guest this month.  Be sure to head on over to the main blog post HERE to see the beautiful cards she and my teammies have made to inspire you to play along.  As always, thank you for stopping by.  Enjoy your day!

  1. Your poinsettias are just lovely in the blues and with all that glitter! Love the frame you used and the depth achieved layering some on foam dots! Julia xx

  2. Such a creative idea to do the poinsettia’s in the blue. One stunning card, so contemporary and would love this in the post at Christmas….Fabulous x

  3. This is CAS at it’s finest! Those blue poinsettias are gorgeous and I love how they peek out from behind that frame. Thanks for playing along with us at JUGS!

  4. CAS PERFECTION Trina! LOVE the gorgeous blue fussy-cut poinsettias arranged inside the antique frame. The blue just pops against all that white space. BEAUTIFUL card my friend! xx

  5. Gorgeous heat embossed and Zig watercolored and beautifully fussy cut poinsettias, Trina. I love how you die cut your antique frame window and arranged your flowers. Simply beautiful. TFS my friend. Hugs.

  6. I thought you would go with poinsettias using non-traditional colors, Trina! 🙂
They’re so SO pretty and shimmery! I love that you used the negative part as a frame. And how cleaver you are to vary the level of the dimension of the flowers inside the frame. It adds so much interest. The wide white frame is a great contrast to the delicate poinsettias in the center. Hideko xx

  7. This is such a pretty poinsettia, Trina! I love it in blue with the shimmer and you’ve framed it beautifully! I’m with Susan. May have to CASE!
