Here’s another of my punch art cards from my Punch Art class today. This punch art koala was super easy to do. Normally I ink the edges of each piece with the same color as the cardstock to darken and define them, but this time I lightened them with white ink and a sponge dauber. Punches used were:
Head – 1-3/8″ Circle
Ears – 7/8″ Scallop Circle, 1/2″ Circle
Nose – Word Window
Eyes – Owl Builder
Arm – Small Oval
Leg – 3/4″x15/16″ Oval
Fingers/Toes – Boho BlossomsNormally
I really wanted to play along in the Make It Monday Challenge 248 Ink Blending Through Die Cut Masks because the sample was so pretty and the technique is so easy. I created a mask from the balloon die in Blueprints 26 and then stamped the sentiment from PTI Big Favorites #9 Mini stamp set. This mini stamp set is actually a Christmas greeting set, but I just cut the Celebrate word apart to make it work for my card. I created a mask slightly larger than the Celebrate sentiment before I blended Soft Sky ink and Certainly Celery ink through the mask and over top. I wanted the pink balloon to stand out, so it’s actually a larger balloon diecut from white cardstock and ink blended in the same manner as the smaller mask balloons.
I removed the mask from the sentiment to reveal a sentiment with a white border and make it stand out on the card. Initially, I was going to have the koala hang from the string, but I thought it would be more fun if the koala was holding onto the balloon itself. The string was die cut from white cardstock using the PTI Balloon Strings die. I cut the string around the sentiment rather than having it go through the sentiment.
